Sorry I have not had a chance to give you any feed back on the the new board.

Let Todd know that board just goes off!

He was spot on about the Greased Pig being the right board.

I have been riding it in everything out here

from waist high mush balls to head high barrels and it handles it all.

As always thanks for the magic board!

It has more of the performance characteristics of the Groveler..but it also fuels speed much quicker than the Groveler http://custom-epoxy-surfboards.com/2008/02/19/custom-epoxy-pig-surfboard-small-waves/ http://custom-epoxy-surfboards.com/2008/02/19/custom-epoxy-pig-surfboard-small-waves/#comments Wed, 20 Feb 2008 01:30:00 +0000 admin http://custom-epoxy-surfboards.com/2008/02/19/custom-epoxy-pig-surfboard-small-waves/ Todd,
I am looking for a new board and have no idea what to get? I have been searching for boards and a few have caught my eye. I am looking for something for in-between my fish and performance groveler.  I love the fish in small waves but once it gets close to head high it is hard to surf. I get going so fast its hard to get it to turn and stay on the board. It seems to want to track down the face of the wave and stay on one line. The Performance groveler is great when the waves get shoulder or above and hollow but lacks when it gets a little mushy.

The beach break here is often mushy  so I want something that will go in that.

I want something that has good float but can also go vertical? I am just an average surfer and sometimes have trouble making my own speed. Can you help?

PS -

Love the epoxy. I have been surfing both boards for the past 1 1/2 years and they are holding up wonderfully!

Hi Chris,
Thanks….still hurting a bit from this bug, but I think I’ve rounded the major corner.
It is up to you….the Rascal is going to be similar to your Twin Fang in that it holds the same speed, but it is mucy quicker rail-to-rail and surfs more progressively.

I think the Greased Pig is more up your alley since it fills the gap in your boards best. It has

more of the performance characteristics of the Groveler you said you liked in better waves, but it also fuels speed much quicker than the Groveler.

If you go with the Rascal it will be different from you Twin Fang for sure, but it will not be similar to the Groveler you have as far as fitting tight in the pocket.

You can set up the board with a five fin set-up to work as a thruster or quad….I recommend going with f.c.s. to do this since  the open  plugs  (depending on your fin setup)  will not create drag.
Best Greased Pig dims for you would be 5′9″ x 18 3/4″ x 2 3/16″.

Please feel free to ask any other questions you may have.
Looking forward to your reply,

Aloha,

Todd
